Recycling Types & Accepted Materials

How to Recycle in Fairfield County

We offer 23 Residential Recycling Sites throughout Fairfield County. All of the sites can accept the following materials:

  • Aluminum Cans

  • #1 & #2 Plastics ONLY (water bottles, milk jugs, etc.)

  • Steel Cans (Vegetable, cat food, soup cans, etc.)

  • Newspaper, Magazines & Office Paper

  • Paperboard

  • Corrugated Cardboard 

Separate materials and pour materials directly into appropriate bins. Please, NO PLASTIC BAGS. If you are uncertain about an item’s capability to be recycled, please contact us and we would be happy to assist you!

Hefty ReNew Orange Bag Program

The Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action (LFCAA) Recycling Center is proud to announce its partnership with the Hefty® ReNew™ Program to expand recycling opportunities for hard-to-recycle plastics in the community. Through the Hefty® ReNew™ Orange Bag Program, residents can now recycle a wider range of materials—including plastics #3–#7, styrofoam, bubble wrap, and other challenging items—by placing them in specially designated orange Hefty® ReNew™ bags.

Please note:
🔸 The Hefty® ReNew™ Program is for hard-to-recycle plastics only.
🔸 Do not place standard recyclable materials (like bottles or cans) in the orange bags.

By keeping traditional recyclables and hard-to-recycle items separate, you’re helping ensure that materials are properly sorted, processed, and reused—keeping more waste out of landfills and protecting our environment.

To participate, residents simply collect their eligible recyclables in a Hefty® ReNew™ orange bag and bring it to the LFCAA Recycling Center. Bags can be dropped off in the clearly marked blue Hefty bin located in the front lot of the Recycling Center or delivered to the Drive-Thru opened Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Curbside

Due to funding, we do not offer residential curbside recycling at this time. Please check with your trash company to see if they offer curbside recycling.
