ILLEGAL DUMPING

Illegal Dumping and How to Report Dumping Abuse

Under Ohio law, no person, regardless of intent, shall deposit litter or cause litter to be deposited on any public property, on private property not owned by the person, or in or on waters of the state.

Littering is a serious offense, punishable by fines up to $500.00 and 60 days in jail.

Illegal dumping has a large impact on our neighborhoods, safety, roads, waterways and wildlife. You can help put an end to illegal dumping by providing the following information to Fairfield County’s Sheriff’s Office:

  • License plate number and description of the vehicle.

  • Description of the person involved and material dumped.

  • Address of where the dumping occurred.

  • If possible, take photos/videos of the dumping abuse.

  • Never put yourself in harm's way. Your safety is our first priority.
